Near the top of the Mushroom Rock Trail |
I was leaving Carbondale on the 17th of December after spending time with my good friends Dave and Alyssa and their family. I decided on my way out of town to try to climb up Red Hill quickly. From the parking lot I walked up the road to the trailhead and then made my way up the Mushroom Rock Trail. It was a quick and easy hike. There was a bit of snow but the sun was shining and I warmed up nicely as I climbed. The rock was a beautiful red color. The red rock, white snow, green pines, and blue sky were the perfect mix of color.

Carbondale and Mount Sopris |
In very little time I found my way to the top of the climb and walked around a bit to find the highest ground. There were great views out to the town of Carbondale and to Mount Sopris. Being short on time and having to drive back home, I didn't spend much time up top and retraced my steps back to the car.
